New: Set a team member's role on a session

We're excited to announce that you can now set a team member's role on a session through the API 🎉. Once a member of your workspace is registered for one of your sessions, you can make them an organizer, a moderator, a speaker or a viewer on that session, as you would from the dashboard.

This feature is particularly useful for:

  • Staffing your sessions automatically with the right hosts, speakers and moderators;
  • Keeping session roles in sync with the tools where you plan your events.

What's new

Updated endpoint

  • PATCH /v1/sessions/{period_id}/people/{id}: accepts a new session_role attribute (organizer, moderator, speaker or viewer) for team members. The role is applied right away, including in a session room that is already open, and is returned in registrant_detail.session_role.

Good to know

  • Only team members can be given a session role. Setting one for a participant, a guest speaker or the event owner returns a 422 error.
  • A session role adds to the roles a team member already has on the event and in the workspace. It never removes them.

Happy coding!
